The first scholarships from The Charles Lee Dalton, Jr. and Emmaline Elizabeth Dalton Memorial Scholarship Fund have been presented to Joseph Deutsch and Russell Regulinski. The fund is one of more than 630 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
The fund provides scholarships for post-secondary education for past and present members of the Mount Airy Junior Fire Company, a program of Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Department. Scholarships are based on exemplary community service and financial need and students may be attending any technical or trade school, certificate program, or two-year or four-year college or university.
Joseph Deutsch will be attending American Military University, majoring in fire science. Russell Regulinski plans to attend University of Maryland, majoring in architecture.
Since 1986, The Community Foundation of Frederick County has provided more than $31 million in scholarships to area students who might otherwise not be able to attend college or trade school and grants to area nonprofits serving the community. This tremendous accomplishment is a direct result of generous donors who touch the future with each donation, leaving a positive impact of lasting change for the Frederick County community.
