By Chief Ivan Browning
February 10, 2013

On Sunday February 10, at approximately 0147 hours (1:47 am), units were dispatched on Box Alarm 01-15 in the 1300 block of North Oak Cliff Court for a townhouse fire. While enroute, dispatch advised that the caller said there was smoke coming from the basement.

Chief 1 and Montgomery Chief 717C arrived first and found that a fire in the rear of an end unit townhome had been extinguished. The occupants had self evacuated when the fire was noticed and a neighbor used a fire extinguisher to knock down what was left of the fire.

Engine 12 arrived and took a hydrant and stretched an attack line to the rear of the house to check for hidden fire and extension. Crews were also sent inside with the thermal imager to verify no fire extension.

Some siding was pulled and no extension was found. Command held MAVFC and Lisbon VFC units and requested a fire marshal. The fire is currently under investigation by the Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office. Crews operated for approximately one and a half hours.

Units: Engine 12, Rescue 1, Paramedic 18, Chief 1

Mutual Aid: Lisbon VFC
