Just after 0700 hours (7:00 am) Wednesday morning May 8, Rescue Alarm 01-09 was dispatched for a vehicle collision involving a school bus in the 5500 block of Ridge Rd. (Rt. 27). Units responded and found a car had struck the rear of an occupied school bus. There was no entrapment and crews evaluated five persons for injuries while making sure there were no vehicle hazards. Crews from Mount Airy and Winfield determined that three patients needed transport and they were taken to a local hospital for evaluation. All other occupants involved refused care. The incident is being investigated by the Maryland State Police. Crews operated for approximately 45 minutes on the scene.
