The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company will be holding their annual Fire Safety Open House on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the fire station located at 702 North Main Street. This event is in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week which was established by Presidential Proclamation in the years following the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
This year's focus for Fire Prevention Week is Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.
Open House activities will include demonstrations of fire, emergency medical, and rescue equipment, interactive learning for children and adults, station tours, and apparatus displays. Fire prevention and life safety information as well as goody bags for the kids will be available to take home. Again this year there will be a grand prize for a child and one for an adult.
Come and meet your local firefighters, see the fire, EMS and rescue equipment that is used in your community and learn how to make your home fire safe. Learn what to do in case of an emergency at your home.
The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company, the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the National Fire Protection Association and Sparky say "Every Second Counts, Plan 2 Ways Out”. Stop by and learn more at the Fire Safety Open House October 7th.
