The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company held their annual Fire Prevention and Life Safety Open House on Sunday October 8th. Learning stations were set-up for both adults and children as well as displays of apparatus.

Attendees learned about E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drills In The Home) and information about smoke and CO alarms. Adults were taught Hands Only CPR and the proper use of fire extinguishers. Children learned to Stop, Drop and Roll and Crawl Low in Smoke. When the stations were checked off, each person received a gift bag. Children were entered for a chance to win a bicycle and helmet and adults entered to win a J&P Pizza gift card.

At the end of the event, Hailey Garth was the winner of the bicycle. Congratulations, Hailey. We hope you enjoy your new bike.

The Fire Company would like to thank all our visitors to our Open House and hope that each went away with some new knowledge about fire and life safety.
