On Thursday August 9 at 1756 hours (5:56 pm), units were dispatched on Rescue Alarm 1-1 for the vehicle collision with rescue at the McDonalds in the 1700 block of Ridgeside Drive. First arriving units found a 2 vehicle "T-bone" collision at the intersection of S. Main Street and Ridgeside Drive with 1 patient trapped. The crew from Rescue 1 stabilized the vehicle and started the extrication process by removing the driver's door, rear driver's side door, and the "B" post. Upon evaluation from the crew of P19, aviation was requested for a priority 2 category B trauma patient. The extrication was completed in about 15 minutes. The patient was removed and transported to the landing zone at the MAVFC carnival grounds, transferred to Trooper 3 and flown to a trauma center. Tanker 1 and Utility 1 handled the landing site. All units were clear by 1831 hours (6:31 pm).
