On January 30, at 1538 hours (3:38 pm), units from Winfield, New Windsor, Mt Airy, Sykesville and Libertytown were dispatched to the 3900 block of Ridge Road for a house fire. Engine 12, Tanker 1, and Chief 1 responded from MAVFC. First arriving Chief 14 found a 1 1/2 story, single family home with smoke showing from the basement. Chief 14 established the Ridge Road Command and requested the Rapid Intervention Dispatch. Engine 12 arrived and was assigned to Division 1 (first floor) to assist with opening up walls and checking for extension. Chief 1 was assigned side charlie officer, and Tanker 1 assisted with water supply. Crews were able to quickly control the fire, unfortunately several pets perished as a result of the fire. There were no civilian injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. Units cleared in approximately 90 minutes.
