Mobile Home Fire Leaves Four Homeless

On Monday November 18 at 1456 hours (2:56 pm), units from Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company and surrounding areas were dispatched for a mobile home fire to the rear of 7912 Circle Drive in the Pheasant Ridge Mobile Home Park. Responding units observed a large volume of smoke in the area and requested additional units. First arriving Rescue 1 located fire coming from a single mobile home in the 7800 block of W. Hill Road. The crew from Rescue 1 made an interior attack assisted by the crew from Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company E41. The fire was under control in 35 minutes. Rescue 1 remained on scene for several hours overhauling and checking for hot spots and assisting the fire investigators. The home was heavily damaged and a vehicle in the driveway also incurred significant damage. The family escaped uninjured with only the clothes they were wearing. The Red Cross is assisting the family.

No firefighters or civilians were injured and the origin and cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
