On Thursday, January 28 just after 1800 hours (6:00 PM), Medic 19, Medic 17, Rescue 1 and Engine 12 were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision with subjects trapped on westbound Interstate 70 at Route 75 in Frederick County. Both medic units and Rescue 1 responded and were enroute when Chief 15 (New Market) found the incident to be on the eastbound shoulder of I-70 west of Route 75. Chief 15 established command and requested additional resources to assist as he confirmed two occupants trapped in the vehicle. One medic unit from Mount Airy assisted with patient care and ended up transporting a patient to a trauma center in Baltimore. Rescue 1 arrived on the scene and assisted with scene lighting and moving patients to the awaiting medic units.
