| The Christmas on Main Street Mt. Airy event was highlighted by the greatly anticipated arrival of Santa Claus atop Engine-Tanker 14 to conclude the parade. A large number of people watched as the floats, marching groups, community organizations, and fire apparatus set the stage for the arrival of Old St. Nick. This event has become a very popular occasion for the folks of Mt. Airy. The parade was coordinated by Chief Dale Lowman. The Downtown businesses were open, there was food, photos, and fun all along Main Street. Santa took time after the parade to listen to the many children make their requests for Christmas. MAVFC is an integral part of this event each year, sending several units to the parade to transport Santa and the Town Officials through the town. The Train Garden was also open for the weekend and the annual Christmas Fire Safety Open House is held on Sunday December 4. |
