On Wednesday November 4 at 0040 hours, units from Frederick County, and MAVFC were dispatched for a vehicle collision with entrapment involving a tractor trailer on Interstate 70 near Bill Moxley Road. Medic 18 arrived on location and reported one tractor trailer on it's side with the driver trapped in the cab. As units arrived on location, additional resources were requested bringing HIRT 33 and the Hazmat team from Frederick County DFRS, and Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 3. Personnel from Rescue 1 and Rescue Engine 153 (New Market ) worked together for approximately 45 minutes to free the driver of the truck. The patient was flown by aviation to the trauma center with non life threatening injuries. HIRT 33, Engine 251, and the Hazmat team worked to secure the leaking fuel from both saddle tanks of the truck. The trailer of the truck was hauling pallets and card board so no action was needed to secure the load in the trailer. Units operated on the incident for approximately 2 hours before clearing the scene. Interstate 70 was closed for several hours during the incident.
