Crash on South Main Street with Flyout

On January 17 just after 1300 hours (1:00 pm), units from Mount Airy VFC were dispatched for a vehicle collision with entrapment in the 1300 block of South Main Street. Units were on scene within minutes and were able to confirm nobody was trapped in the vehicle. Upon of arrival of the first EMS unit patient care was initiated and aviation was requested due to the extent of the patients injuries. Rescue 1 arrived shortly after the medic unit and assisted with patient care and mitigated fluid spills as well as removed debris from the roadway. Engine 12 responded to the carnival grounds to handle the landing site for MSP Trooper 3. Patient care was transferred over to MSP Aviation and the patient was flown to a trauma center. Fire/Rescue personnel returned to service in approximately an hour from dispatch.
