Past Chief Franklin L. Plunkard passed away on Friday October 11. Chief Plunkard joined the MAVFC in July of 1962 and became a Life member in 1987. He served as Assistant Chief in 1965 and 1976. He served as Chief from 1967 - 1974. During his time as chief he was instrumental in designing and placing in service the first heavy duty rescue squad in 1972. He was also an advocate for providing the second ambulance in 1971. Chief Plunkard also worked many hours in fundraising frying oysters and chicken for the Sunday dinners.
