The MAVFC has been very fortunate to have received several donations of protective gear and hand sanitizer from community individuals and businesses. The Mount Airy Walmart has provided at no cost 2200 pairs of medical gloves and 500 masks for use on our medical transport units. We have also received donations of hand sanitizer from several families and individuals. The Town of Mount Airy Emergency Response Team has also assisted with securing some donations of protective supplies.
The MAVFC has purchased in conjunction with a three other Carroll County Fire Companies a decontamination fogger which can be used to sanitize our engines, ambulances and staff vehicles, as well as rooms up to 40,000 square feet at the fire station and reception hall. This purchase has allowed us to maintain our units in a clean and safe state for our citizens.
In recent days we have received requests on how to contribute monetarily to the fire company. In response, we have established the capability to contribute on our website at through Pay Pal or credit card. Other ways to contribute are to mail a check to "The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company, 702 N. Main Street, Mount Airy, Md. 21771" or drop a donation at the station. Remember that our station is closed, but if stopping by you may ring the doorbell and someone will come to assist you.
The MAVFC is grateful for all the support we are receiving during this very difficult time in our lives. Please follow the guidelines set forth by the Governor and stay safe and healthy. We hope to have some fundraisers open this summer and fall depending on the development of the COVID 19 and the governmental restrictions in place.
