Message to the Public Concerning Annual Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company Carnival,

On Thursday, May 28, 2020 the Board of Managers held a meeting to discuss the status of the upcoming Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company (MAVFC) Annual Carnival in light of the current restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After an extensive discussion, weighing the risks and benefits of various options, it was decided by unanimous vote to cancel the carnival that was to be held July 20th through the 25th, 2020.

As with all volunteer fire companies in the counties, the loss of fundraising income could have a significant negative effect on our company's operations. The MAVFC looks forward to successfully beating this pandemic with the support of the community. We look forward to brighter days ahead. The MAVFC would like to again thank the Mount Airy community for their unwavering support of our organization.

To assist with the loss of our largest fundraiser, the Fire Company will be holding their annual raffle. This information will be mailed to households throughout the community. We hope that you will continue to support us by returning your raffle tickets.

This was a very difficult decision which the Board of Managers took very seriously. In closing, thank you to the community for your continued support during these unprecedented times. Please ensure that you take care of yourself and your family during these times and continue to follow the guidance put out by our health department and other governmental partners.
