On Saturday September 19, shortly after 2100 hours, ATV1 and U1 were dispatched to assist the Mount Airy Police Department with a search for a stolen vehicle possibly located inside the CSX Railroad Tunnel in Ridgeville. Upon arriving on scene Mount Airy Police advised they were contacted by Frederick City Police and requested to search for this vehicle that was showing a possible GPS location either inside or in the area of the railroad tunnel. ATV1 deployed East on the railroad tracks with both MAVFC and MAPD personnel on board. After an extensive search along the railroad tracks from outside of the tunnel between Old Mill Bottom Road, through the inside of the tunnel, and out to East Ridgeville Blvd., yielded no results. Officers determined the area searched was sufficient enough with the approximate location of the GPS signal received from the vehicle. With no other services needed from the fire department ATV1 and U1 cleared and returned to service. Units operated on scene for approximately 1.5 hours.
