Busy Sunday for MAVFC

Fire with Exposure- On Sunday March 7 at approximately 1540 hours (3:40 pm) Structure Alarm 1-2 was dispatched for a brush fire with exposures in the 7900 block of Bennett Branch Road. Chief 1-1 was first to arrive with a small brush fire in the front yard that Brush 15 was able to handle.

House Fire- As units were clearing the previous brush fire, Box Alarm 1-4 was dispatched at 1616 hours (4:16pm) for a house fire in the 1500 block of Summer Sweet Lane. Chief 1 arrived to find a 2 story single family dwelling with smoke emitting from the attached garage. Command was established as first arriving engine, Rescue 1, was designated as the investigation group. A small fire was found in the garage and was quickly extinguished. The assignment was cleared and Mt. Airy units and Howard Engine 41 were held for packing up.


Fire with Exposure- At 1721 hours (5:21pm) units were dispatched for a brush fire with an exposure. Duty-1 arrived to find an approximately 100 x 100 area of grass and woods on fire with a small shed exposed. Duty-1 established command and requested an additional brush truck. Engine 12 was designated fire attack with Brush 15, Engine 142 and Brush 145. The fire was quickly knocked down by B-15 and E-12. Command held the assignment with two engines and the two brush trucks for mop up clearing the rest of the assignment.

There were no injuries to civilians or fire department personnel on any call.
