On September 12, 2021, the second Mt. Airy Duck Race was held. The Quack Attack ducks lined the entry to the Fire Company Carnival Grounds and awaited the yellow ducks to appear. The numbered ducks arrived in crates and were prepared to float down the man-made waterway. Several eliminating heats were scheduled and the ducks were ushered to the starting line. They were dumped by our professional "Duck Dumper" and they were off down the waterway. The heat winners were retrieved and held until the final race of the day where the winner was named.

This event was coordinated by the Mt. Airy Rotary Club and the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company. Several Mt. Airy Rotary Club members were guests at our monthly meeting and presented a check to the Fire Company with our portion of the proceeds. Thank you to the Rotary Club for the opportunity to work with them on this successful event. We look forward to the 2022 Duck Race.
