On Thursday March 9 at 1731 hours (5:31 pm), units were dispatched to the Mount Airy Inn on the 1400 block of South Main Street. First arriving E12 found a chimney fire from the dining room fireplace. There was little smoke in the restaurant, but all patrons were asked to leave so operations and investigation could take place. There was no fire discovered inside the building except for the inside of the chimney. Aerial ladders were placed to the roof to check for any extension, and to inspect the chimney. No extension of the fire was discovered but some issues with the chimney were relayed to the management for follow up.

There were no injuries and only very minor damage to the business. Units from Mount Airy, Damascus, Lisbon, New Market, Urbana, Laytonsville, and Germantown responded to the scene with nine units and approximately 30 personnel to handle the call. The Mount Airy Police assisted with traffic. Units were clear from the scene by 1830 hours (6:30 pm)
