MAVFC Assists on Mass Casualty Crash in Montgomery County

On October 16th, 2022, at approximately 2045 hours (8:45 pm) units from the Mount Airy VFC were dispatched for a vehicle collision with rescue on Route 27 in Damascus. Rescue 1 quickly responded with 4 personnel. While enroute Montgomery's Paramedic Engine 713 arrived on the scene reporting 2 vehicles with 1 overturned, 1 trapped in a vehicle, multiple other patients, and declared a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI). Additional EMS units were requested to the scene bringing Medic 1 and Ambulance 19 from Mount Airy VFC and multiple units from other companies, and mutual aid jurisdictions. Mount Airy units arrived on scene and assisted with treatment of the injured persons. Units cleared and returned to service after operating for over 30 minutes.
