Vehicle Collision with Two Trapped one Flyout

On January 18 at 1555 hours (3:55 pm), the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for a vehicle collision with rescue at Ridge Road and Park Avenue. Rescue 1 arrived on scene to find a three vehicle collision with two people trapped in separate vehicles. Rescue 1 quickly split their crew to begin extrication efforts on both vehicles. Engine 12 arrived shortly after to assist with extrication. Rescue1 extricated one patient from the first vehicle and Engine 12 completed the extrication from the second vehicle. MSP Trooper 3 was called to fly one patient out to a trauma center. Howard Engine 41 handled the landing zone at the carnival grounds. A total of 3 patients were transported, one by Trooper 3. Medic 19 and Montgomery Medic 713 each transported one patient to area hospitals. Units operated at the scene for approximately 40 minutes before returning to service, leaving the scene with MAPD. Frederick Ambulance 159 filled the MAVFC station.
