On August 7, 2023, our members and career staff responded to a number of incidents including a working house fire, numerous vehicle collisions, and a wide variety of service calls.

At approximately 1100 hours, units from the Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department, Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department and the Carroll County Advanced Technical Rescue team were dispatched to the 4000 Block of Salem Bottom Road for report of a BGE truck slipping down a hill. Units arrived to find the truck sliding down the hill with a worker trapped in the raised bucket. First arriving units worked to secure the truck to prevent it from continuing to slide and a heavy wrecker tow truck was called to the scene to assist. Truck 1 was dispatched to assist with rescuing the worker from the bucket. Truck 1's crew was able to get in position to safely rescue the worker from the bucket truck by using the aerial ladder in a tight spot. The utility worker was not seriously injured.
