The Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company (MAVFC) held its annual Family Night to recognize 2024 member accomplishments and to install the 2025 Administrative and Operational Officers on Friday, March 14th. President Susan Hubble and Chief Anthony Russo presided over the evening and presented the following recognitions.

In 2024, the MAVFC responded to a total of 2846 emergency incidents. The Top Emergency Incident Responders were as follows: Eddie Godwin (57), Eli Ruddy (64), Steven Bettis (72), Ivan Browning (73), Scott Brister (81), Tom Gartner (112), Joe Chinquee (120), John Chambers (179), Anthony Russo (202), Robert Christiansen, Jr. (202), Charles Hamilton (246), Bill Fries III (582)

Bill Fries III was the Top Overall Responder with 582 responses. He was also the Top Fire Responder with 307 incidents and the Top EMS/Rescue Responder with 275 incidents. Bill was presented the All Around Volunteer for 2024 by the Chiefs and Presidents.

The following members were presented certificates for Length of Service milestones: Ten Years: Joe Chinquee and Christina Chrsitiansen; Fifteen Years: Russell Halterman; Twenty Years: Kevin Costin; Twenty-Five Years and Life Membership: Scott Brister; Thirty-Five Years: Bruce Walz; Forty-Five Years: Janet Woodfield

Chief Russo presented operational recognition awards as follows:
Firefighter of the Year: John Chambers

Rookie of the Year: Brandon Wright
Junior Volunteer of the Year: Trista Christiansen

Special awards were given to Walt Stone V for his many years of managing the Main Eating Stand at the annual carnival and to Donald Kelley for making sure that our oxygen cascade cylinders were always filled. These two men provided many, many hours of dedication in helping the fire company over many years.

An unexpected presentation was given to E. Richard Baker, Jr. from the Carroll County Commissioners for his 50 years of service to the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association.

The 2024 Distinguished Service Award which recognizes a member for their dedicated, significant, and long-term continued outstanding service to the company was presented to President Susan Hubble. She has just completed 38 years of service, has held multiple offices, and has worked in many MAVFC administrative and operational areas.

The Officers, members, and their families enjoyed the evening and are looking forward to more accomplishments in 2025.
