| On Tuesday afternoon March 17 at 1508 hours (3:08 pm), units from the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched for a serious vehicle collision in the area of Ridge Road (Rt. 27) and South Main Street. While enroute, the call was upgraded to a vehicle collision with rescue. Units arrived to find one patient trapped. Chief 1 established command and directed Rescue 1 to complete a side removal and quickly extricate the patient. M18 transported the patient to the carnival grounds, where the patient was flown out by Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 3. E12 handled the landing zone. M19 transported one patient to a local hospital. EMS103, BC101 and HE41 assisted with operations. Units were at the scene approximately an hour. |
