MAVFC Assists on the House Fire on Vance Drive in Winfield |

| On August 9 at 16:42 hours (4;42 pm), units from the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched on Box 14-2 for a house fire in the 2500 block of Vance Drive. Units arrived to find a large 2-story single family dwelling with fire showing from the rear and smoke showing from all sides. Crews were met with a well-advanced fire on arrival. Chief 1 was assigned as the Charlie side division supervisor. Engine 12 stretched a secondary line and assisted with fire attack. Tanker 1 provided multiple tanks of water throughout the incident. M19 and M18 assisted with operations and rehab. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries. The fire is under investigation by the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal. Units operated for approximately 5 hours before returning to quarters. A re-call was dispatched for this incident at 0526 hours (5;26 am) the following morning for small spot fires in the fire building. Units from MAVFC assisted Winfield with further extinguishment of hot spots. |
