On Saturday November 14 at 1645 hours (4:35 pm), Box Alarm 1-15 was dispatched for a townhouse fire in the 200 block of W. Manor Court. First arriving Lt-1-3 found smoke showing from the Alpha side (front) of a middle of the row townhome and then upgraded the report to fire showing from the Charlie side (rear). He then established the W. Manor Court Command and requested the Rapid Intervention Dispatch. E102 (New Windsor filling for MAVFC while members were away training for the new ladder truck) was the first arriving engine and proceeded to attempt an entry through the front door. However, this task was complicated due to potential hoarding conditions. FCE152 arrived second due and laid a supply line from the hydrant at the intersection of Village Oaks Drive and W. Manor Court to supply E102. FCE152 then deployed an attack line to the rear to attempt entry from the rear deck of the townhouse. E12 arrived third and laid an additional supply line to the rear and assisted FCE152 with fire attack. Crews were able to make entry off the rear deck and make a quick knock of the fire in the kitchen area. Crews checked for extension into the adjacent residences with nothing found. Units operated on the scene for approximately 3 hours until returning to service.
The Frederick County Fire Marshal's office is handling the investigation into origin and cause of the fire. The occupant is being assisted by the Red Cross.
E141 filled in for MAVFC during the incident. It should be noted that units from MAVFC were sent to 3 additional incidents during the course of this incident.
