November 17, 2008

On Monday November 17 at 2327 hours (11:23pm), Frederick County Rescue Alarm 15-70-04 was dispatched for the vehicle collision on westbound I-70 near Bill Moxley Rd. First arriving unit, Frederick County Chief-15, found a single vehicle into a tree with the occupant pinned in the wreckage. Requests for a medic unit and Medevac helicopter were made for a category "B" trauma. Command requested Chief-1 to assume the extrication sector command. Upon the arrival of RE-153 and Rescue 1, crews went to work stabilizing the vehicle, removing the driver side door, and flapping the roof to make access to the patient. The patient was extricated from the vehicle in approximately 15 minutes and quickly moved to Medic-18. Command requested E-12 handle the landing zone for MSP Trooper 3 on westbound I-70 west of the scene. Trooper 3 transported one priority 2 patient to the trauma center. All units were clear at 0022 hours (12:22am).
