Thank You for Supporting the Duck Race

On September 13, 2026, the annual Mt. Airy Duck Race was held. The Quack Attack ducks lined the entry to the Fire Company Carnival Grounds and awaited the racing ducks to arrive. The Decorate Your Own Duck (DYOD) contestants were displayed for attendees to vote for their favorites. The numbered racing ducks arrived in crates and were prepared to float down the man-made waterway. Several eliminating heats were scheduled, and the ducks were ushered to the starting line. The adopted ducks were dumped by our professional "Duck Dumper" and they were off down the waterway. The heat winners were retrieved and held until the final race of the day where the winner was named.

This event was coordinated by the Mt. Airy Rotary Club and the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company. Several Mt. Airy Rotary Club members were guests at our monthly November meeting and presented a check for $20,000 to the Fire Company for our portion of the proceeds. Thank you to the Rotary Club for the opportunity to work with them on this event. We look forward to the 2027 Duck Race.

Thanks to everyone that supported this successful fundraiser for both the Mt. Airy Rotary Club and the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company by purchasing ducks, participating in the Quack Attacks and the DYOD contest.
